Item: LIMIMART 40″-130″ Smart Mini Projector

Reason for purchase:
We were looking to project on the ceiling and needed keystone adjustment.

Pros:
Miracast, HDMI, Wifi, TV APPS, USB, PRICE!, projects on ceiling, keystone adjustment

Cons:
1080P (if looking for HD), onboard speaker is tinny, could be brighter in low light, need 270 degree HDMI connector, possibly the same for 3.5mm audio connection, port location at rear.

This projector is worth the price at about $100. Out of the box, you will want to connect the device to the wifi to update the software. The UI and software version shipped with our version lacked the ability to select special characters like ?, !, <, >. Keep this in mind if your wifi contains special characters. Updating the software rectified the issue.

If using the projector on the ceiling, consider buying a 270 degree (elbow) HDMI connector. This will run you about $5 on Amazon. A good sound system should also be considered. I used a Logitech Z407. A new system may run you about $120, but cheaper solutions may also be used.

The USB is useful for a keyboard if you prefer to type in your password. Keep in the mind that the software may not allow special characters until updating.

The best environment is one that is dark. The keystone adjustment is best done manually. The ceiling I was projecting on is pitched, so adjusting the keystone is a must. The focus is done manually via the ring on the barrel of the projector.

The noise from the projector is insignificant. If the projector is right next to you and you DO NOT have a good speaker system, chances are you will notice the hum of the projector. For me, I’m normally to engrossed in what I am watching.

I spent over an hour updating it and playing with the configurations. I was initially impressed as to how well you could adjust the screen… and then I saw the video quality of the adjusted screen and it was disappointing. It also NOT compatible with iOS, it forces you to download an app via android play store and it does not work very well. The screen mirroring through the app is awful and very laggy.

After watching ten minutes of video, I threw this thing back in the box and initiated a return.

Even the HDMI setting was a nightmare to get working. Whole thing is dreadful, don’t waste your time.

Few things are wrong with this projector:
1. Picture is acceptable. Not horrible but too grainy. The wheel to adjust focus is barely usable.
2.Bought it to watch Netflix and two months after buying it, cannot be used on Netflix. Another paperweight.
3. If you want o screen mirror for the projector you need to buy an app for the projector to use AirPlay or just straight mirroring from other devices. What a scam!

There are better projectors for the cost is a too complicated and you have to pay to use it as a straight projector.

I purchased this product to use in brightly lit environments where I wanted to project various videos. This projector is very easy to use. It can read off a USB stick, so I can load up my videos onto the USB and just plug it into the back. It requires a mains outlet for power so I needed to purchase a separate portable battery station to use in places where there will be no power outlets. That’s the only limitation however. Bright images are bright and the focus is sharp. The design also allows you to project from various angles. It’s wonderful!
The only function that’s not so great is the in-built speakers. It’s useful that the project also provides sound but the sound quality is low so plug it into speakers too, for better sound.
